In such a bleak landscape in which the lives of women have been laid to waste what could be the sources of hope and renewal ?
What are the ways in which we could revalue women's lives ?

This session seeks to bring back to the centre of the Court the spirit of resilience and resistance that resides in the weakest and the most vulnerable. The mother who has lost her daughter but refuses to despair; the daughter who refuses to let her dreams die; communities who reject processes of dehumanisation and brutalisation. It also seeks to bring to the centre of the Court alternative forms of justice initiated by different women's collectives that would make meaning to those who have been violated; a meaning rendered not by an abstract principle of law that would benefit individuals but by human acts of validating individual pain and acknowledging the crime that would lead to a deeper transformation of communities and societies.
