If there isn't much diversity in the shapes, there is definitely some in the colors! Very pleasing image.

I'm not surprised to see that if there was rich color anywhere to be found in the Amish community, you would spot it. The photo is pleasing both as a delightful bit of rural street photography, but also as documentation of Amish culture. "Plain" clothes allow only for buttons, no zippers. The generously hemmed skirts mean that there will always be matching fabric at hand if a patch should ever be needed. Indeed, these clothes will never have seen the inside of a dryer, so they will appear to dry in the fresh air and sunshine for many years to come.

Wonderful image, Yiannis. Reminds me of Italian 'laundry' shots. As a woman who sews, I also notice details, like the hand made nature of the dresses, their hems stitched to allow for modifying with growth, all with cuffs which discourage the showing of arms. I agree with Olivier: a song without words.
