After a very long day up at the eruption, I checked the "aurora borealis forecast" - which might be the most Icelandic thing ever - and saw that it was very likely that we would get some northern lights. I ended up staying three more hours to wait for darkness, and had almost given up, when the first green shimmers appeared... As it was very late I only spend a few minutes taking some photos ,before joining the last few leaving the area. But it was totally worth the wait.
