Rosemallow, Scarlet

Copyright © Lewis Scharpf

Hibiscus coccineus
Sometimes called Scarlet Hibiscus
Note: The IRC classifies this plant as critically imperiled in South Florida.
Each bloom is open for only one day.
This beautiful Scarlet Rosemallow (or Hibiscus)
graces our area in the summertime. It is a
wildlfower native to swamps and marshes of Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
We especially like it because it attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
