Chen (Anser) caerulescens
This is the color variant of the Snow Goose often called the "Blue Goose"
Northpark Industrial Park
Opelika, Alabama
Note: The blue morph Snow Goose is controlled by a
single gene with dark being partially dominant over white.
The dark morph results from a single dominant gene and
the white morph is homozygous recessive.
These morphs are not usually distributed randomly within
the range of the species. The blue (dark) morphs are
more common in the Lesser Snow Goose.
