King Snake or Black Racer Ingesting Copperhead

Copyright © Travis Bingham

Possible Black Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula; subspecies, L.g. nigra) ingesting a Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix).
The most common species of Georgia and Alabama is the Eastern Subspecies (Lampropeltis getula getula), however,
this subspecies has yellow or white crossbands which is lacking in this specimen.

An ID alternative to the Black Kingsnake is the Black Racer (Coluber constrictor)
Black Racers are also known to feed on snakes.
