This video features an adult Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) capturing and consuming what appears to be a Large-mouth Bass or possibly a carp.
Although common, this stately bird is exceptionally capable of catching fish.
Great-blue Herons are slow and deliberate in their steps but can strike like lightning to catch a fish.
Hopefully, this video, shot in a small Auburn Alabama stream, will depict the capabilities of this magnificent bird.
