Coccinella septempunctata
Auburn, Alabama
This palearctic species was intentionally introduced into N. America
several times for the biological control of aphids.
Those efforts apparently failed in establishing this species but in
1973 an established colony was found in Bergen Co., New Jersey.
Since that time this lady beetle has spread naturally and has colonized
in Delaware, Georgia, and Oklahoma.
