This species is an agricultural crop pest.
Caterpillars of this species vary greatly in color.
They appear to take on the color of the foliage they are eating.
Consistent features inclue small dotlike black "microspines" with a rough body texture.
Later instars usually have a brown head capsule and a pale subspiracular stripe.
