Black Swallowtails occur throughout much of the US. They are multi-brooded,
flying in spring, summer, and fall. Populations build as the seasons
progress. They are found in open areas that include suburban gardens and
are seldom seen in forests. Males gather with other butterflies at damp
spots. Both sexes nectar from a variety of flowers.
