Tashkent

Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan and has always been an important international transportation junction. Unfortunately, only a small part of its architectural past is preserved, due to demolition of historical and religious buildings after the Russian revolution of 1917 and a massive earthquake in 1966. It was rebuilt in the Soviet style with wide streets and massive buildings common to the Soviet era.
