'The Citadel of the Samre'. The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of people who come from the region at the base of Phnom Kulen. Although no inscription has been found for this temple, the style is of the 'classic' art of the middle period lke that of Angkor Wat and the monument most likely dates from the same period, or perhaps slightly later.
