Cambodia is a country which has lost its soul. From being one of the most beautiful countries in that part of the world - both from a geographical and people points of view - to one which is struggling to overcome the trauma of the past, it attempts to find its place once again in the world. Every person one meets has been affected in one way or the other by the results of the horrors of the Pol Pot regime. Unfortunately, a poor and ongoing attempt has been made to institute a tribunal to try those who are still alive for those atrocities. This has not been a success, in part because many of them are involved in the present government in one form or another. In spite of commemorating their "Day of Anger" one can only hope that, in time, Cambodia can openly and honestly confront its past, deal with it and throw off the burden which hampers their social and psychological development.
