We made our annual mini-get-away to the Texas Hill Country over part of Thanksgiving weekend so I could see the fall colors, but chose a different town that we saw for only a few hours this summer; Wimberley, TX. It's a quaint little town with a western flair, great for shoppers looking for unique gifts. Cypress Creek runs thru the downtown area, with public access to walk along it. We arrived in town late (Thanksgiving weekend) Fri morning and started looking for lodging. Just about everything was sold out but we really lucked out in finding a place that had just had a cancellation not long before we called.
The Mountain View Lodge is a mile or two from town, up on a high hillside with views off the backside of the rooms that were beautiful!!! They have a good piece of adjacent, undeveloped land down the hill behind them that a previous guest (who happened to work for the Texas Parks and Wildlife), came and slowly worked on many times while staying there, creating a Guided Nature Trail, with a brochure in the rooms describing each marked spot along the trail. (They even provide walking sticks at the beginning of it!) My pictures are grouped by subject: all taken in Wimberley; all from our lodge and finally all taken while on the road.
