027.jpgThis was my second one made and has a big flaw in the overall shape of it (that I learned later what I did wrong). The yarn is soft chenille-feeling and so cuddly! Gracie loves curling up in it. |
031.jpgA close-up of that cuddly soft blanket. |
TC-Valentine+blanket.jpgThis is Emmie's personally-designed blanket. Different yarn and a fancier style. (I hope she likes it!) |
TC-Valentine+blanket 008.jpgA close-up of Emmie's blanket folded and with one corner pulled lower to utilize my dark desk as a background to see a bit of the detail put into this one. |
IM000339.jpgAlthough it's not noticeable in this photo, I made this blanket with three different brands of pink yarn. I tried to make each "square" a different pattern. This blanket is similar to the one with primary colors and is also reversible. This photo shows the side with the "seams" open and facing you. |
IM000338.jpgThis is the back (or smooth) side. I made loopy pom-poms and attached at the four, interior corners. |
IM000272.jpgView showing the whole blanket (it is really a rectangle, although this pose makes it appear a more hour-glass shape. |
IM000274.jpgA new style I created. I "chained" a long strand and then wove it in-and-thru the open row, tying the ends in a bow in one corner. |
100_4476.JPGA different, but similar blanket. |

IM000015.jpgClose-up of the "bubble-ruffle". |
Picture_0130.JPGA simpler one that I wasn't fond of how it turned out. |

rainbow.jpg |
rainbow2.jpgMy "Remnant" blanket. This has a total of 4 different skeins of color, from a medium-dark in the center to lighter, then lighter still, then white around the edges. |
IM000026.jpgIt's not easily seen in this photo but this entire blanket is out of baby pink-colored yarn. |
IM000025.jpg |
100_5791.JPGThis is so incredibly SOFT but lightweight!! I made it to fit Gracie's toddler bed as part of her 2nd birthday gift. |
100_5792.JPGMaking the whole blanket out of the same (open) stitch makes it "breathe" very easily when it's across your body. Had it been all (closed) stitches I think it would have been too hot to have on for long. |

100_5083.JPGA very simple, yet dainty design I created for a baby boy. |
100_5084.JPGSimple but soft... |
IM000283.jpgI didn't use a very good background for this photo. It's hard to tell but the dark blue in the border is very thick and "bubbly-looking". It took as much yarn for it as the entire light blue inside square, and as much time to do as well. |
IM000285.jpgStill hard to see in this close-up photo but the navy is more of a "thickly-gathered ruffle". |
IM000281.jpgThis one is a bit easier to see that gathered ruffle look in the navy edging. |
IM000282.jpg |
IM000069.jpgHard to tell but this blanket was a pale baby blue square with medium edging. |

Picture_0113.JPGA very unique baby blanket for a baby who's nursery was done in bright primary colors. This blanket was "in my head" but did NOT look like this, although this is what it eventually evolved into. |
Picture_0112.JPGThe reverse side. It (accidentally) turned out to be reversible, having quite a different appearance between the two sides, although I hadn't planned it to be that way. |
Garret1.JPG |
Garret2.JPG |
029.jpgThis starts blankets that are gender-generic. This was my first baby blanket for Gracie. The outside shape didn't come out right but I learned what I did wrong (after I had finished it) from my Aunt Sharon. It is more the size to cover an adult while sitting in a rocker/glider. |
013.jpgA photo showing it as if it were wrapped around a baby...to me it's prettiest this way than when it's unfolded. |
015.jpgI call this one my "race track" one because as I crocheted it, I kept going "round and round and round". |
047.jpgA "generic sex" baby blanket. After the baby's sex is determined, whichever appropriate color does NOT match can be untied and pulled out, leaving only one ribbon matching the baby's sex. |
046.jpgA close-up showing the pink ribbon. |
IM000027.jpgIt's hard to tell but I used the palest shade of pastel yarn to make this blanket. It's one of my favorites to use with Gracie as it's so light-weight and soft. |
IM000028.jpgA close-up showing the faded pastel colors. |
IM000036.jpgI made this (out of a design I saw in my head) and later, a good friend told me that this type of rows crocheted in this pattern in called "filet" stitch. |
IM000037.jpg |
026.jpgSame general design as the white blanket shown previously but this is very pale pastel yarn. |

100_4964.JPGPhoto showing the whole thing. After I'd finished the whole thing I saw I had made 1 mistake on the pattern of the piece lay-out. Two "bricks" are in the reverse order from what they should be. Each remnant piece within one of the 3 colors is all the same material but the soft, velvety style of material makes it appear as though there are varying shades of light brown, dark brown and burgundy; there are really only 3 total colors used. |
100_4962.JPGThe same throw but shown on our couch. |

100_4348.JPGAnother Christmas present I made. |
100_4349.JPGClose-up of a corner of it. |
100_4350.JPGThe one I made next for us (that we currently use). The shape is really a rectangle but laying it on the couch made it look hour-glass shaped. |
100_4351.JPGclose-up of it. |
100_4528.JPGThe only photo of the blanket I made for my Secret Sister for the 2005 Christmas. (The cross didn't turn out well but borrowed it back and made the cross a different way.) |
100_5769.JPGMade for a very good friend's 50th birthday. (Shown on our couch.) This yarn is so incredibly SOFT and lightweight that it made the perfect light-weight, cuddly couch afghan. Very simply done in the same stitch throughout (her choice) |
100_5770.JPGClose-up. It was folded in 1/2 and laid across the back of the couch so this photo shows 2 layers on top of each other. |
IM000018.jpgA surprise personalized Christmas present to Chris (shown here holding it up). Both boys' blankets fit the top of a twin-sized bed. Chris is a Texas "Aggie" fan, hence the color scheme of his blanket. |
IM000019.jpgA close-up showing his name block. It was my first attempt at adding letters to something I'd crocheted. I wasn't thrilled with it's outcome so when I next made Alex's, I decided to do his lettering differently. |
IM000020.jpgChris holding up Alex's blanket. Alex's blanket colors are the same as our town's sports team colors. |
IM000021A.jpgA close-up of his name block. I crocheted a double layer for the white background and then stitched the letters just thru the top layer, so that the back of the blanket just has an all-white center block. Hard to tell but just the white center square (double-sided) was over 3,000 stitches and took almost as long to crochet just that square as the rest of the entire blanket did alone! |
Florida Vacation 003.jpgA wedding gift for a couple who's decorating colors were black & white. |
Chris Graduation 117.jpgI laid this couch afghan completely open across the foot of our bed - to show the whole design, which would have been unnoticed had it been folded on the back of a couch. |

100_6073.JPGThe following pictures are ALL things I made during a 1-week vacation by myself. There were more things that didn't fit on the leftside bed that are on 2 adjacent chairs and small table. (Things on the right bed were materials not yet made in to anything.) I made these during my one and only (alone) vacation. I didn't have any set reason in mind for making them other than I'm not a "TV" person and it would fill my time. As I was driving home from that vacation, I got a phone call from a previous co-worker, asking if I'd like to make/sell things in a shop she was about to open. What timing!! So, there are photos of my handmade things in her shop later in this gallery. (Unfortunately, her shop was only open for about 4 months.) |

100_6001.JPGA blanket I finished the last 1/2 of during this trip. |
100_6002.JPGA close-up. The border yarn is a different type, with a softer feel. The ribbon could be exchanged for a blue one, changing the gender of the blanket's use. |
100_6021.JPGThis blanket didn't turn out too well so I have since removed 1/2 of the darker pink (wide) border and will create a 2nd yellow "bubble" row to replace 1/2 of the wide dark pink. |

100_2369.JPGA unique blanket that's 4 layers of flannel stacked on top of each other and then sewn every 1/2" with parallel seams (2 quarters in each direction). Afterwards, cut up between each seam (of only the top 3 layers of flannel), "ruffle" the material up with your hands and wash. The result is a thick, chenille-type feeling on top. |
100_2372.JPGClose-up showing both sides. The flapped over side is the back and shows the every 1/2" stitching. |
100_4894.JPGThe material I used to make this "Gracie's Quilt of Many Colors" is called minky chenelle. It is incredibly soft!!! I used remnants given to me from a (new) friend. The blanket is rectangle although the way it's laying on the couch makes it appear hour-glass. |

Baby Emmie is swaddled in the second baby blanket I ever made, which was made for her older sister, Sophia (lying next to her) before Sophia was born. Sadly to say I lost the picture Sophia's Mom sent me of Sophia wrapped in it when she was a littlebaby, but at least I have a picture of it (as a "hand-me-down" while they await the one I'm making especially for Emmie).
