Lisa's Blankets
100_5769.JPGMade for a very good friend's 50th birthday. (Shown on our couch.) This yarn is so incredibly SOFT and lightweight that it made the perfect light-weight, cuddly couch afghan. Very simply done in the same stitch throughout (her choice) |
100_5770.JPGClose-up. It was folded in 1/2 and laid across the back of the couch so this photo shows 2 layers on top of each other. |
IM000018.jpgA surprise personalized Christmas present to Chris (shown here holding it up). Both boys' blankets fit the top of a twin-sized bed. Chris is a Texas "Aggie" fan, hence the color scheme of his blanket. |
IM000019.jpgA close-up showing his name block. It was my first attempt at adding letters to something I'd crocheted. I wasn't thrilled with it's outcome so when I next made Alex's, I decided to do his lettering differently. |
IM000020.jpgChris holding up Alex's blanket. Alex's blanket colors are the same as our town's sports team colors. |
IM000021A.jpgA close-up of his name block. I crocheted a double layer for the white background and then stitched the letters just thru the top layer, so that the back of the blanket just has an all-white center block. Hard to tell but just the white center square (double-sided) was over 3,000 stitches and took almost as long to crochet just that square as the rest of the entire blanket did alone! |
Florida Vacation 003.jpgA wedding gift for a couple who's decorating colors were black & white. |
Chris Graduation 117.jpgI laid this couch afghan completely open across the foot of our bed - to show the whole design, which would have been unnoticed had it been folded on the back of a couch. |

100_6073.JPGThe following pictures are ALL things I made during a 1-week vacation by myself. There were more things that didn't fit on the leftside bed that are on 2 adjacent chairs and small table. (Things on the right bed were materials not yet made in to anything.) I made these during my one and only (alone) vacation. I didn't have any set reason in mind for making them other than I'm not a "TV" person and it would fill my time. As I was driving home from that vacation, I got a phone call from a previous co-worker, asking if I'd like to make/sell things in a shop she was about to open. What timing!! So, there are photos of my handmade things in her shop later in this gallery. (Unfortunately, her shop was only open for about 4 months.) |
