Steven F. Austin's statue proudly stands outside the doorway leading to the room full of statues. Kristi told us that the color of the base of it was significant - it's the University of Texas' famous "burnt orange and white". A fellow Pbase'r added more info: "The statues representing Texas are both by Elisabet Ney and represent Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston."
