We were 1 KM shy of getting to Mal Pais and came across this wet road area. Dave got out to go investigate closer. He couldn't tell how deep the water hole might be but even though the picture doesnt' show it well, seeing it in person we could tell that our vehicle would not be able to go off the steep drop-off on our side or make it up the steep incline on the opposite side, so decided to be safe and turn around, driving the hour back to Montezuma instead of making the loop that went through several towns to give us a better idea of that part of the peninsula was like. The car up ahead was also stopped as long as we were, considering their options. We don't think they decided to try crossing the water hole either.
