Temporary crips where remains are stored waiting for permanent burial in a family crypt. (A crypt can hold many bodies, and often are sized to hold 2 coffins at a time. Each coffin needs to be sealed in the crypt for 1 year + 1 day before the remains can be removed and the powdered remains put in an urn and re-sealed inside. If a family loses more than 2 people at a time and only had a crypt that held 2 coffins, the additional deceased bodies would be put in one of these "temporary" spots, waiting for the "1 yr + 1 dy" before being placed in their family's crypt.
