Famous "Spanish Moss". We learned that a company came and harvested tons of this stuff and then meticulously stripped the grey portion off of a black inside skinny thread-like part, because if you left it on, the grey parts would mold. They used the black inside "threads" as stuffing for pillows, beds, etc. Henry Ford used the same stuff for the stuffing of his auto seats when he started making and selling the first cars. However, chiggers (tiny insect that gets under your skin and eats away) got in some of the batches of the black filling, and caused what became the first-ever "car recall", with Ford replacing the inside of the seats with new filling.
