New Orleans 100.jpg

As our boat was currently situation, the river makes a turn to the right here. When Hurricane Katrina hit, it pushed flood waters North from the coast, which met this river right about here as it flows south. The result was the two "floods" collided and created a whole new river-way as seen straight ahead in this photo. What used to be a bank with lots of trees and vegetation got destroyed and they now call the area straight ahead (and as it curves way back and around to the right, meeting back up with the original river further downstream, "Lake Katrina". I have another photo later that shows where it meets the river further downstream.
