I don't know if these are really in the daisy family, or not. We called them Brown-eyed Susans, over
in Eastern Washington, although they grow over here on the west side, as well. I've always loved their
cheerful, bright splashes of color in the hot summer, but ranchers don't like them because they'll just
keep spreading, crowding out the eatable plants and grass. Livestock won't touch them and
they must taste really, really bad when even the deer pass them by!
