This big old tree is in the yard next to us. It reminds me of one that grew in the park, near
the house where I grew up, in Portland, Oregon. Because of the way the branches grow around the
trunk I could climb them like a ladder and go quite near the top, for a wonderful view, and to be
isolated, with the last rays of the summer sun, as it was setting. I'm much too old and out of
shape to attempt to duplicate that feat of youth, but looking at this tree brings the memories back.
