Rhodophana nitellina

Cape Perpetua, Oregon

Collybioid in stature and uncommon. Found in coastal CA and OR in winter or early spring. Orange brown caps with whitish gills. Caps hygrophanous & translucent when wet, with farinaceous odor. Found under in conifer and mixed forest settings. Stems the color of caps, lighter at apex, but equal. Numberous short gills. Spores pinkish buff. Not for the table, like most members of Entolomataceae.
