Ramaria araispora, var araispora

Olympic National Forest, Washington

Neon Pink Coral
An excellent edible. Red ramarias are a treat to find, and are plentiful under conifers on the Washington coast. The other commonly encountered one, Ramaria stuntzii, is chunkier, larger and has a broader base. It too is quite good. Many coralloid mushrooms are the devil to identify and many cause indigestion, but not the PNW red ones.
