Old and New

I definitely want some criticism on this shot. I see this scene every day on the way home from work.
The cottonwood blooming gives a nice contrast to my eyes, but I'm not sure I've captured it in its
best. It was overcast, and that may be an issue too. The shot was processed again with the
Melancholytron plug-in to emphasize the overcast look.

What would you do different to capture such a scene? In my experience, my D70 and D200 don't capture
enough detail for landscape shots with a lot of tiny detail, like the dead branches. Maybe I need to
get out the 4x5?

I like the hazy look but it does soften detail. you shot this at 1/2000s f4 and that doesn't give a lot chance for details to be recorded. try a shorter exposure, on a tripod, and sharpen. there is no reason why the 200 shouldn't nail this detail with great detail. I'd like to see it again, I'd like to see it myself :) I like the contrast of the old and new.. well seen.. too bad about the fence

Very nice.

I was thinking about the 50mm as well. I can't get any closer though. I'm already standing at a fence. The fence in the shot is inaccessible from where I am.

Try my 50 1.4 or the 24 on the D200, or walk up to the fence with the the fisheye and hold it over for the shot. Get in its face. I'd so much like to take wildlife in Africa with my fisheye! (from ground level in a small specially designed armored vehicle)
