Horses enjoy the spring weather

I needed Pierre's 600mm mirror lens for this shot. The horses were fairly far away and I forgot to
toss the 100mm lens in the bag before work. I needed a lot more reach than that anyway. Processed in
Photoshop with the Melancholytron plug-in. The light wasn't the greatest.

while it would have been nice if the tree wasn't coming out of the horses head.. that's reality and this isn't a painting.. I think it's nice enough but on my monitor I have very little detail on the dark horse. I like the scenery and love horses, like the action. Sometimes it's fun to just see what we can get.

I agree with your criticisms. I was under-prepared as usual! I am trying to come up with a good kit that I can carry, and the 28-70 is too big for that. I mainly use that lens when I know I'm going to shoot people. I'm trying to figure out what I need and what I can sell. I may just end up carrying the big bag, but it gets heavy with my big lenses. I will go back and try this series again with all this in mind. I may lug the 80-200 along. I didn't know there were horses, so I may have found some good scenics for later on. It's across the street from the university.

The scene has potential. The shot is a little out of whack. The placement of the running horses is not so good, I think, with the tree on the head of the black horse (and too close to in line with both horses) It would have been better had you shot a little sooner. Tell me if you agree. Where's the 28-70? I wouldn't mind if you criticize my shots too, please Bob, if you have time. I trust your critical judgement. Maybe we should start a more realistic culture of comments on Pbase. I'll go around being honest about the photography of people who'd welcome it.
