I tried to get some shallow DOF shots today with the 85mm. The lens is great, and has nice bokeh.
However, it will only focus at about two feet though. Definitely not macro-close.

Beautiful..I really like the composition here; I might have cropped a touch more on the left and off the top - not much, but that's just my personal taste. Love the lighting and great contrast between the colors of the rose (and green leaves/stem) and that of the bg. Very nicely done.
