This burrowing owl was hunting in the front driveway tonight. The shot of him with a gecko in his mouth didn't turn out because the flash wasn't ready to fire, but then I really am happier without the realities of life in full color like that anyway. Just before this was taken he swept down and caught the gecko, went back to the roof with it and swallowed it whole in just over one gulp.. yuck, but he's a happy owl in this photo!
