MV-22 Osprey

MCAS Yuma

This is the MV-22 Osprey that is in town for some training. It is a tiltrotor aircraft that can take off and land like a helicopter, but fly like a plane.

Back in 1974 and 1975 the Osprey program was underway and the Marine Corps was looking forward to the replacement for the old CH 46's. As a 46 pilot I was hoping to get to fly the Osprey. It's just now getting to the fleet, 30 years later. Nice photograph.
