Pros: Great for a quick stop, scenic, deep enough, easy access/parking, smooth easy road, very close to food and other places.
Cons: Not much shade, small, much of it's shallow (some deep areas but they're small)

Grade: A

This is a great "quick stop," one great for having a quick dip on the way to something else that's more of a trip, and it's especially good as a place I can visit quickly in the morning while heading into town to get supplies--if I'm staying in Jasper, that is (since 2024 we've started staying in Marshall instead). It's basically a part of the Jasper City Park, but much more scenic looking that most parks where I live (eastern TX).

Much of this area is shallow by my standards, but there is this one stretch (hard for me to explain/document in here) where it gets deep enough for my liking. The area makes for good scenic shots too.

The minuses of this spot--it's not as well shaded as other spots, sometimes it can become crowded with people fishing, and it's really for me not much more than a "quick spot" as opposed to a destionation one would make a trip for all unto itself. As a "quick stop" type of spot, though, it's fantastic (again, if you're staying in Jasper).

Since it's in the town of Jasper itself, you will be very near plenty of eating places--Sharon K's Cafe, Ozark Cafe, and Cliff House Inn (about 10 more minutes down the road going south on ARK 7 heading towards Russellville) among them. There's even a small pizza place downtown that we went to once that, best as I remember, makes darned good pizza.
