Tuolomne County lies in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California. State Route 49 is a north–south state highway that passes through or near many historic mining communities of the 1849 California Gold Rush.

Sonora, the county seat of Tuolomne County, is the main city of the southern Gold Rush Country. These photos were taken on roads between Sonora and Groveland. An entrance to Yosemite National is Park one hour to the east.
