Tepotzotlan The town of Tepotzotlan is 45 kilometers north of Mexico City in the Estado de Mexíco. Located on the town's large central plaza, the former noviate school and adjoining Jesuit church of San Francisco Javier now make up and house the Museo Nacional del Virreinato. In 2002, Mexico's Secretariat of Tourism added Tepotzotlan to the list of Pueblos Mágicos (magical towns).

Exterior The churrigueresque façade of the church, one the finest in Mexico, was built 1760-62. There outstandingly crafted statues in niches and reliefs interplay with the decorations producing a work of stunning beauty.
