These two aquatic animals are so similar, from a distance, that I decided to put them together in one gallery so you can see them side by side. Muskrats are smaller, of course, but size can be difficult to determine when all you see is a head and small section of the body in the water. Beaver have a much broader, square head, with noticeable ears, while muskrat heads are more delicate and pointed.
