Red eft (Eastern newt)

Larose Forest

This little creature is the terrestrial stage of the eastern newt (also called red-spotted newt). When it matures, usually 1 to 3 years, it will transform into the adult newt and return to an aquatic habitat. Both the eft and adult (newt) spend the winter on land under logs or rocks or leaf litter. To see the adult: https://pbase.com/laroseforest/image/172748963

Ce jeune est mignon avec sa couleur voyante. C’est une belle image que votre sens de l’observation l’a découvert.
