Chocolate tube slime mold (Stemonitis splendens)

This morning around 11 a.m. I photographed this species (see Next photo). At about 4:30 p.m. I went back to see how much it had changed. As can be seen when compared with the next photo, it has started to look more like this photo https://pbase.com/laroseforest/image/164134711). By tomorrow it will probably be gone.
