Chocolate tube slime mold (Stemonitis splendens)

This morning I checked the log where the previous photos of this species were taken. It has been a few weeks since the slime molds disintegrated, but today there were a couple of new growths and I am going to head back soon to see how far they have progressed. Things happen quickly with these slime molds, this batch looks like it is already "on the move" so to speak!
