Getting old is not for the faint of heart!

Larose Forest

Sasha was diagnosed with pretty severe arthritis in her hips as well as in her spine, a month ago, which explains her dramatic slowing down through July, and August and continuing. Some days the meds kick in (Metacam) and she is happy to go for a reasonably good walk, other times, not so much. So life has changed and instead of the long hikes we were doing in early summer, we now advance slowly down the trails for shorter distances, and she likes to rest often. It is not fair that dogs get old after only 12 years!

She looks happy and content in this touching portrait. No, it's not fair at all. She really is a beautiful dog.

Christine, I'm sorry to hear that Sasha is now having difficulties from increasing arthritis. Hopefully, the medication help ease the pain most of the time. Even though she has been forced to slow down, I'm sure she still wants to be with you every moment that she can. At twelve, Sasha remains an absolutely gorgeous girl. Love her & treasure every moment that you have together.

It's always the most difficult thing we have to face when we have four legged companions...I hope the medication helps her.

I know.. I wish they lived twice as long.. one becomes so attached to them, and them to you. v
Flossie is on daily medication too and she's only a small dog.. and nearly 13.

Oh bless her, Christine. I guess they age a but quicker than we do but the meds are the same with us, they either work or they don't. This is a gorgeous portrait of Sasha.V

I'm sorry to hear about her arthritis and slowing down, and I totally agree about dogs getting old too young. V.

So sad to hear of her medical challenges, Christine. She is beautiful and no doubt a fine companion. Hoping that the meds will help.

She is such a beauty and 12 years seems like an unfair short time before she has to slow down. Sasha's lucky to be with you as the best care is coming her way.

Sasha is so beautiful. The aging disparity is a difficult thing indeed. I hope the meds can be a significant help to her.
