Charming underwing moth (Catocala blandula), #8867

Reveler Conservation Area

I find Catocala moths in general, to be a challenge to ID. Thanks to iNaturalist for the ID here. This was one of four species found last night.

Great work! identifying some of these must be kind of like a Rorschach test.
“Hmmm So Christine what do you see? “
“A moth! “
“Hmmmm Interesting….”
“So what so you see in this one?”
“A moth!”
“Hmmm Interesting…When do you not see moths?”
“Christmastime… except in my closet and my photos!”
“Hmmm…” Taps pencil on forehead just below his glasses
that are pushed up into his thinning grey hair.
“Christine! You are beyond my skill to help, but just do what you love,
be happy and don’t become a cat lady in your dotage.”
“Thanks Doc!” ;-)
