Snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus)

Burnt Lands Provincial Park

The hares are really noticeable right now, running all over the place. This one, however, sat still for quite some time, but it flicked its ear constantly. It appears to have a tick near its nose and no doubt ticks and who knows what else plaguing its ears.

What a beauty. Rabbits are so delicate it's a shame they are prey to so many things.

Fascinating animal. I wonder whether the ticks bother it.

omnipresent wifi signals might pose an additional problem to those hyper receptive ears...at least it can put the snowshoes aside for a few months..
