Bruce spanworm moth (Operophtera bruceata), #7437

Mer Bleue area

This small moth was fluttering around the trail in the maple woods yesterday. It is one of two day-flying moths that can be found in late autumn to early winter, generally October through December. This moth is a male, the females are flightless. Their eggs overwinter in the bark of trees and hatch in spring.
