These tiny flies are often seen hovering around flowers on which they nectar. This one is clinging to a goldenrod leaf.

Oh yes... I have goldenrod that popped up in my garden but I left it there for now as the lizards like to climb it. And I wonder if my lizard with the bee or wasp in it's mouth might have actually had a hover fly in it's mouth. Who knows! This photo is so sharp! Love it! V
