American lappet moth (Phyllodesma americana), #7687

Burnt Lands Provincial Park

This long and very furry looking caterpillar was stretched along a willow twig pretending to be part of the branch. The orange band at the top is revealed when the caterpillar is alarmed. To see the pretty moth that this caterpillar will one day become: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/108714595
