Black swallowtail butterfly, female (Papilio polyxenes)

Reveler Conservation Area

Nectaring on Queen anne's lace. I spent a long time waiting for this butterfly to land where I could get a clear photo of her. Eventually she landed on this flower just for a nano-second, long enough to get off one quick shot of her. And I say "her" because of the wide blue band on the lower wings. Only females have that feature.

Worth the wait for this wonderful photo. The female is an attractive Papilio with that blue band.
