American robin

Reveler Conservation Area

In yesterday's very cold weather, there were five robins in a thicket at the conservation area. Robins can survive as long as they have food and shelter, and in recent years increasing numbers are 'deciding' to stay the winter here rather than follow the others southward. These ones are eating buckthorn fruit, apples and wild plums.

resplendent in its well-meshed retreat,.,,in Vancouver they appear in late autumn, and swoop back up to elevation in late Spring...always a lively presence though..
