Arctic wolf (Canis lupus arctos)

Parc Omega

As with the black bear shot in the next image, I wish I could say that this was taken in the wild, but it was not. It was at Parc Omega. Human visitors are confined to cars, and animals roam free, although in the case of predators like the beautiful arctic wolves, there are tall fences surrounding many, many acres of natural habitat: forest, rocky outcrops, open spaces. Still, these guys belong up north! But isn't this a gorgeous animal? Very much like a white German Shepherd.

no animal should be in captivity...still, it is fascinating to see some, like this striking specimen, relatively up close..
