Blue stain fungus (Chlorociboria aeruginascens)

Conroy Pit

This beautiful little fungus (also called green stain fungus), is mostly seen by the blue stain on rotting wood, which can be seen on the top part of the log. This is very, very common and it is not unusual to find bits of wood, logs, stumps, stained a greenish/blue colour, more intense after rain, less noticeable in dry weather. Rain brings out the fruiting bodies, which are the little sac shaped discs bottom right.
