Spur-throated grasshopper (Melanoplus sp.)

Larose Forest

Possibly Melanoplus femurrubrum. The pink colour really caught my eye. According to Stephen Marshall in his work on insects, the genus is highly variable in colour and this species and one other, have "an occasional pink form".

Rosy hue in some Melanoplus species usually occur in individuals you find at the end of the season. Would also guess M. femurrubrum on this female.
