Blackberry looper caterpillar (Chlorochlamys chloroleucaria), #7071

Marlborough Forest

It was only a few weeks ago (July 29) that I saw the moth of this species (see inset, lower right), and now the caterpillars are out. They are very common at this time of year, and often found on new england aster, as here, which has just started to bloom.
