Hickory leafstem borer (Acrobasis angusella), #5673

Reveler Conservation Area

A beautiful little moth that may be the hickory leafstem borer. According to Bug Guide:
"Larvae bore in the shoots and leaf stems of hickory, walnut, and several other trees and shrubs."
Hickory is abundant at the conservation area. These are the moths whose larvae create interesting tubes made out of frass in which they shelter while feeding.
